| Rod & Fiona Richards | Signed on: Thu 18 Oct 2007 14:37:23 CDT We were both delighted with the tour - All of the arrangements from the smooth pick up at the airport, the hotel, the bikes, the routes etc. were better than we dared hope they might be. You have done the homework and it clearly shows. And I think Mark's dry sense of humour added that little bit extra enjoyment to our week. After last years aborted start it was great to get out there and have"the experience" I will certainly be singing your praises to my colleagues over the next few months, that's for sure. Thanks for a memorable week, ride safe. Rod & Fiona | | | | Peter Neilson | Signed on: Tue 15 May 2007 15:02:14 CDT Peter Neilson & Gilbert Marshall, Royal Enfield Electras Hello Phil & Jackie, Gilbert and I would like to thank you for a fabulous time touring on Enfields in the Picos. Your knowledge of the geography and history of the region added an extra dimension to our holiday, and your hospitality much appreciated The scenery and wildlife was amazing and the hotel delightful, we shall certainly recommend your tours to our fellow Royal Enfield Club members. Thanks again Peter and Gilbert | | | | Robert Young | Signed on: Tue 15 May 2007 15:01:41 CDT "I was close to the end of a gruelling but fascinating tour of inland Spain in my car, when I had a sudden urge to ride a motorbike. I had heard about Bike-Astur from the press, so I telephoned Phil from Leon entirely out of the blue and to my pleasant surprise he said he could fix me up with a mini-tour for two days around the Picos with an extra day to wander around Llanes. Within a few hours I arrived to find Phil had already booked me into an excellent hotel, all included in the price and everything arranged in record time. The next two days were spent on two characterful Enfields on a sublime tour of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen in Europe. It is so refreshing to find an organisation which is this flexible and Phil is not only great company, he is extremely knowledgable about the region. This magical tour ended with a wonderful supper with wine flowing and bubbling conversation in the company of Phil and his charming partner Jackie. I had a great time and without hesitation recommend Bike-Astur. Excellent, 5 star operation and wonderful, personal service. A rarity anywhere in the world. In a word: Fabulous"

In May 2004 we rode with Phil Butler of Bike Astur whilst testing the BMW 1150Gs, new BMW 1200Gs and filming for our first MV-DVD project. I was delighted to get a second chance to meet-up with Phil for a couple of days riding in October and as promised I had brought my GSXR1000. Woohoo! Big Trailie or Hypersports, the roads and routes that Phil took us on were just awesome! Mind blowing scenery, fantastic food and of course base camp in one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Thanks Phil, I cant wait to return ! The scenery and the roads were fantastic, views for Morag to see and great roads for me to ride. We certainly would never have found all those fantastic views, villages and restaurants without your in depth knowledge and research of the areas. All this coupled with such interesting and great company from you both made our first touring holiday together an absolutely enjoyable experience. Thanks again and you will see us again. With best wishes from Clive & Morag x | | | | Jim Reynolds | Signed on: Tue 03 Oct 2006 14:28:01 CDT Classic Bike Guide - Royal Enfield Hi Phil Wow! Thanks for all your guidance and advice, we had a brilliant time on the Bullet and will definitely be back. Our thanks to Jackie too, for the extra layers that kept Valerie warm. It will be in CBG pretty soon, with a strong recommendation that the readers should try the experience. All the best to you both Jim Reynolds | | | | Colin Allen | Signed on: Tue 03 Oct 2006 14:27:13 CDT BMW R1100RT Hello Phil and Jackie, Many thanks for the hospitality you both showed our group last week, and for showing us those views that just got more and more spectacular with each passing day. The fantastic meal on the final evening and your attention to detail, such as supplying all that literature and taking the time to mark the routes on the maps just added the gilding to the lily. I hope to be back for a longer tour next year. Best wishes to you both, Colin Allen | | | | Martin Boler | Signed on: Tue 03 Oct 2006 14:26:33 CDT Triumph Daytona Hi Phil, Just a note to thank you for the great holiday. Everything about it was superb, the scenery, the routes, the camaraderie and your extensive knowledge of the whole area. Your easy going and friendly nature made the whole trip into a very relaxing and enjoyable experience and it was great that everyone got on so well. The only problem was it was not long enough! I did enjoy riding the Royal Enfield even if it was a little small, it was a different way of riding and ideal for the area. So thank you for the use of the bike. I think I will always associate Asturias and the mountains and our little holiday with the sound of the engine. Putt-putt-putt-putt-putt-putt-putt-putt-putt-putt-putt. Once again thanks for everything, it was absolutely brilliant, it was great to make new friends and there is always next year for a repeat performance. Give my best regards to Jackie as well, it was nice to meet her and I'm glad she joined us for the two days. Keep up the good work and hopefully we'll meet again next year, all being well. Cheers Martin | | | | John & Judy Phoenix, | Signed on: Tue 03 Oct 2006 14:25:51 CDT Honda Transalp Many thanks Phil to yourself and Jackie for making our first trip abroad on two wheels so enjoyable. For those who`ve not met Phil before, nothing is too much trouble and he goes out of his way to make sure you have a great holiday. The Picos, Asturias, the routes we took and Llanes itself were all better than we expected. We`re still trying to find some of those black tomatoes and Rioca (Not sure about the spelling) such as we had on the final night. Cheers both. Admin's Comment: The "Black Tomatoes" are Kumato, they are Khaki coloured and delicious, try them!! Phil :) | | | | John Valavanis | Signed on: Tue 03 Oct 2006 14:24:53 CDT Royal Enfield Electra Hi Phil, Many, many thanks for making my first riding holiday abroad an excellent one! Fantastic scenery, great roads and -above all - your intimate knowledge of the area, made it possible for me to get so much more out of the week than if I'd tried to do this independantly. I do think though, that next time (if it's July again) I'll come with some lighter motorcycle clothing to try to keep cool! My thanks also to both you and Jackie for your hospitality, warmth and guidance throughout my stay in this gorgeous part of Spain. Definately one to be repeated, I might even convince my other half to come next time! Oh...and best regards to Llanes from Yannis (ha...ha). Admin's Comment: Good choice of location for your first tour abroad i.e Yannis visits Llanes!! Phil | | | | John Collins | Signed on: Tue 03 Oct 2006 14:23:58 CDT Honda Deauville & Royal Enfield We had a great time exploring the Picos and Asturias in early September. Phil's intimate knowledge of the area ensured we got to see the very best bits of the region. Super roads, superb scenery, wonderful weather, great hospitality (from Phil, his partner Jackie and the hotel staff in Llanes) all added up to a memorable few days. The loan of the Royal Enfields for a day was, for me, a real bonus. Much lighter than my Deauville I found them an absolute hoot to ride and when we ended up on a rough track leading us high into the mountains, above even the vultures, I was glad I was on something so manageable. These bikes are ideal for exploring this sort of terrain and, with Phil guiding, you have time to take it all in. Our very sincere thanks to all concerned for a super few days. | | | | John Cuninghame | Signed on: Tue 03 Oct 2006 14:23:22 CDT Honda Varadero & Royal Enfield Hi Phil, Just seen Jim's article in the October CBG. It’s pretty good and - rightly - gives a very positive view of your set-up. Like Jim, we liked the informality and flexibility - it was more like going out and about with a knowledgeable (and Spanish speaking!) friend than a'proper' tour, and Jim's right about the last meal - fantastic. I’m not sure he did the hotel justice though; it was good, the staff were very friendly and the bike was well looked after too in the basement bike park. The Enfield was great fun on the mountain roads, I hope you do well with them. By the way I can recommend walking in the Picos as an extension to the biking holiday. Good luck & thanks! John & Jackie. | | | | Steve & Ali Mabbott | Signed on: Tue 03 Oct 2006 14:22:46 CDT Royal Enfield Electra Great tour, thanks Phil, breathtaking scenery, wonderful food but most of all your knowledge and friendliness to all of us on the tour. yours ( the coffee and cake crew)Steve and Alison | | | | Sam Bertenshaw | Signed on: Tue 03 Oct 2006 14:21:45 CDT Royal Enfield Electras Nostalgic tour on the Enfields had a great time, Never realised how beautiful the scenery was in Northern Spain and the mountain roads designed for biking. Your knowledge of the area was astounding only bad part of the tour was it had to end Many thanks The Bertenshaw Clan, Keith John and Sam | | |
